SEO Case Study: Diane Butterworth

Getting a CAD agency the attention it deserves.

Diane Butterworth Ltd is a highly regarded CAD agency and resource team that specialises in office planning, space planning, 3D visualisation, and Revit Family creation within the workplace industry, and had recently launched a newly designed website, which you can take a look at here: https://www.dianebutterworth.com/

We had longstanding connections with the business through our design services, and we wanted to make sure that our design got seen by as many people as possible. So we created an awareness campaign for the new site, aiming to; increase traffic to the website, create more buzz on social media, and generate new inquiries for the business.

Goals

With the launch of the new website wanted to make sure that the team were getting as much exposure as possible online, making the most of the work they were already doing on social media, and their ongoing blog.

We identified the goals as:

  • An increase in traffic to the website, and blog
  • Improved ranking performance for key terms
  • Improving brand awareness and visibility, online, and specifically on social channels.

The project:

Since the site had just launched and no prior SEO work had been undertaken, it was important that any basic SEO tools were set up, and any necessary indexing with Google has been started.

Tech SEO

For all our SEO projects, we complete a technical audit of the site, making sure that it performs favourably against its competitors. For Diane Butterworth Ltd, we implemented some performance-enhancing tweaks which meant that Diane Butterworth Ltd performed 50% better than its competitors in Google PageSpeed tests, helping it climb the ranks on Google SERP’s.

We also set up Google Analytics, and Google Search Console, making sure that Google was able to index the new pages of the website as well as any SEO optimisation we had done on the pages (keywords, alt-text etc.).

We then added Schema to the website, making sure that Google could find all the necessary rich data it needs to populate search results for Diane Butterworth Ltd.

Keyword research

After we finished the basic SEO audit and set up, we researched the key terms that were most important and relevant to Diane Butterworth Ltd. This involved looking at what Diane Butterworth Ltd was already ranking for, as well as getting a sense of the target audience for each page and piece of content, and the terms that that audience would use to find Diane Butterworth Ltd.

On-site SEO

Once we agreed on a list of keywords, we made sure that those terms were placed contextually throughout page and blog content. We took the white-hat approach of placing these keywords in a way that they were relevant to the content on the page; but also allowed the content to be indexed appropriately.

Off-site

A key part of our strategy was to work with websites in key industries to network and share content. Doing so has increased traffic from referral sources by 100% in 6 months. We worked to find outlets that were relevant to the niche skillset of Diane Butterworth Ltd. The backlinks we found not only increased traffic to the website but also increased domain and page authority.

Content

We worked together to create a content strategy that is relevant to searches by customers in our key industries, and can rank well in SERP’s. This continues to increase ranking presence as well as helping increase organic search traffic. (One of our articles are currently listed at number one for ‘top 5 Revit tips’)

Results:

  • 100+% increase in overall traffic.
